José Carlos Mangual

Founder and CEO of Azul Cielo, a production company that develops and produces original content and serves as a bridge between foreign productions and Puerto Rico, a veteran with existing tax incentives in Canada, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. His first produced feature film, “How The Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer” (America Ferrera, Elisabeth Peña) was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival, won the Horizons Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival, was an official Selection at the Toronto Film Festival and was distributed domestically by Maya Releasing.

Mr. Mangual is a native of Puerto Rico, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and his MFA in film Production from the American Film Institute. Highlights of his previous work include being the SVP of Eclipse Entertainment, VP of Production and Operations of Pink Sneakers and Big Vida Entertainment and the Producer of “We Fight to Be Free”, a film on the life of George Washington that screens daily at the Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia. Most recently he was the Global Production Lead for YouTube Originals where he oversaw more than 50 shows per year at a global level for the streamer and collaborated on projects with Lebron James, Alicia Keys, Will Smith, Pope Francis, Maluma, Ryan Garcia and Liza Koshy. While at YouTube José was the recipient of a PGA Award and was nominated for numerous Emmy Awards. José is a member of the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and the Directors Guild of America where he served as Co-Chair of the DGA Latino Committee.
